  • 소개 및 적용: Dimethyl disulfide(n) is a colorless oily liquid with a strong garlic-like odor and is used in various industries, including oil refineries, as a sulfiding agent to catalyze reactions. It is also used as an intermediate and food additive in products such as onion, garlic, cheese, meats, soups, and fruit flavors. Due to its low flash point and strong odor, it requires storage under nitrogen pressure in closed containers. The distinctive sulfurous odor of DMDS is added to natural gas and propane to warn of leaks, but its odor threshold is much lower than the EPA's safe level, so its fumigation odor can be mistaken for a gas leak. In addition to its industrial and food applications, DMDS is used as a jet fuel additive, artificial flavoring agent, corrosion inhibitor, and effective soil fumigant in agriculture.
